School Director on BBC podcast

Dr Janet Holt, Director of Student Education was featured on the BBC Radio  Wales programme, ‘All Things Considered’  on Sunday 5 February.

Janet was invited to be a member of a panel discussing  the issue of assisted dying and euthanasia for the popular weekly religious affairs programme. Janet appeared with a broad ranging panel comprising Richard Paterson, a member of the British Humanist Association in South Wales, Tim Maughan, professor of oncology and Dr Helen Watt, Senior Research Fellow at the Anscombe Bioethics Centre.

Janet was chosen by the BBC following her PhD research on ‘Nurses’ Attitudes to euthanasia’ and she has previously appeared on Radio 4 and in the media as a respected commentator on Nursing.

Dr Janet Holt has recently been appointed as a registered trainer for the UK National Research Ethics Service (NRES) and is the Vice Chair of Leeds Central Research Ethics Committee.  She is the Learning and Teaching Consultant for Practice Based Education (with responsibility for ethics) in Health Sciences & Practice at the Higher Education Academy in the UK. Janet’s research interests and publications are within the disciplines of Healthcare Ethics and Law and Nursing Philosophy.
