Nursing degrees leading the way
The School of Healthcare is moving to all degree nursing programmes from next September 2010, three years ahead of the proposed governments changes announced for 2013.Head of School Dawn Freshwater said, "We have been offering a degree in Adult Nursing since 2000 and we see the move to all degree programmes as crucial for the future of healthcare provision in the 21st Century."
"Modern nursing is a very demanding profession and involves increasingly advanced levels of practice and clinical knowledge. Our degrees recognise this and provide both the academic and the practical expertise required to be a successful professional. They also reflect the involvement of service users and carers to ensure the patient is at the centre of all our work."
"The School of Healthcare is a modern, forward thinking institution and we have moved to all degree provision ahead of the government target because we believe the carers and patients deserve the highest standards of nursing we can deliver, as soon as possible."
