About Outcome Measures

Our interest lies in the development and use of appropriate outcome measures and exploring their impact on health and social care decision making and, in particular, giving primacy to the service user and carer perspective on ‘what outcomes matter’.  We situate our research against a wider policy and practice interest in evaluating new and current service provision and the support of evidence-based practice.

Following development, validation and dissemination of the Communication Difficulties after Stroke (COAST) and its companion Carer-COAST,  these measures have been translated in a number of European languages (Swedish, French) and interest received from, Australia, Canada and Europe to use the measure(s) as part of both research and service delivery for persons experiencing communication difficulties following a stroke.
