What this programme is about:
PG Cert in Supervision of Midwives is designed for midwives working in a variety of midwifery settings. It is designed to prepare midwives for the role of supervisors of midwives as well as further enhancing their knowledge and understanding of contemporary issues required for safeguarding the health and wellbeing of women and their babies and families through promoting best practice and excellence in care, preventing poor practice and intervening in unacceptable practice.
This programme has the potential to develop your career relating to midwifery and health. Past students have developed in the fields of research, education, clinical practice and clinical management.

The programme will give you the knowledge and skills to positively effect the provision of midwifery care for women and their family. In particularly you will become reflexive in a continuously changing environment; be able to synthesise knowledge and utilise knowledge in the midwifery area; be able to internalise knowledge derived from research to re-define practice and re-frame existing boundaries; be able to adopt transformational leadership skills; manage complex issues from a variety of viewpoints; be a facilitator of learning.
This programme provides you with professional specific preparation in the development of midwifery within a multidisciplinary team and will enable the development of specialist expertise within the midwifery discipline.

On completion of these certificates students can progress to diploma and masters level by joining the multidisciplinary MSc in Advanced Practice Programme
