BHSc(Hons) Nursing (post reg)
Return to Practice
About the programme
This programme is available to qualified nurses who wish to renew registration and re-enter practice. The aim is to enable nurses to achieve the confidence and competence to return to practice within the NHS. This is achieved through a combination of theoretical sessions and supervised clinical practice. Successful completion of the relevant programme results in updated knowledge, current skills, and the confidence to provide a high standard of patient or client care.
Learning support
A strength of the University of Leeds provision, which has been offered successfully for 18 years, is the availability of peer and tutor support on a weekly basis throughout the module. This aspect has continually evaluated well, however, learning needs are met individually and with flexibility in relation to session content. For example, additional sessions to meet learning needs may be added or where students demonstrate evidence of recent prior learning the student may be exempted from attendance at specified sessions.
"I enjoyed the course and found it useful although hard work! Everyone has been really helpful and I now feel confident to carry on." Quote from a nurse who has returned to practice.
