MA Psychotherapy and Counselling - MA-PSY-C08

What this programme is about:
The MA Psychotherapy and Counselling provides high quality counselling training with a strong research focus and a core model of intersubjectivity. In addition to introducing and critiquing theories of counselling and psychotherapy, the programme incorporates intensive skills training, group supervision, a two year personal development group and mandatory personal therapy, and includes specialist input from leaders in the fields of intersubjective and creative approaches to therapy and supervision. Students will be in clinical practice for which they will receive individual supervision external to the programme. The first two years of study are identical with the Postgraduate Diploma in Psychotherapy and Counselling with the addition of Research Methods in the third year of study; students will conduct a supervised research project and write a dissertation.

Why do this course:
You will be capable of practising as a qualified psychotherapist counsellor working independently and within multi-disciplinary teams to assess for, provide and evaluate counselling and psychotherapy for individuals presenting with a wide range of personal, relationship, spiritual and critical incident / life stage issues. You will also be able to contribute to research within the field of counselling/psychotherapy. The programme is designed to meet the training requirements for individual BACP accreditation. Further supervised practice will be necessary in order to qualify for BACP accreditation.
