Who is the programme for?

Programme features:
The programme is delivered in collaboration with the Leeds Institute of Health Sciences and is distinctive in its international emphasis on Innovation, Evaluation and Leadership and Management Practice. The unique selling point of this programme is working together to resolve students’ own leadership and management challenges and equipping them with a critical appraisal of research, innovation and skills to continue developing after the award through an alumni network.
Objectives of the programme:
On completion of the programme students should be able to undertake leadership and management roles and have a visionary approach to meet future international health and social care challenges.
The programme will:
- Provide excellence in education which meets the leadership and management needs of those working in health, social care and related fields.
- Work with individuals to identify practical and research-based solutions for current leadership and management challenges in their areas of practice.
- Foster effective collaborative working between managers, service users and carers within international and multi-agency contexts through online and class-based activities to achieve service quality and effectiveness.
Timeframe for completion of the awards:
Minimum 2 semesters PT PgCert (max 3 years)
Minimum 1 yr FT MSc (max 3 yrs)
Minimum 2 yrs PT MSc (max 4 yrs)
Entry requirements:
UK and International applicants from health and social care professional groups, estates, housing, health promotion, charities and other key sectors are normally expected to:
- Have a recognised higher education honours degree (normally a 2:1)
- Be employed in a managerial role in the health or social care sector or are developing towards this.
The University of Leeds’ APL and APEL procedures may apply to exceptional applicants who do not meet the above criteria. Applicants whose first language is not English must meet the standard of English language required by the University and set out in Ordinance XI (ILTS 6 or equivalent)
Fees/Funding:
Fully funded places for NHS Employees
This programme is free to all NHS employees working in the area covered by Yorkshire and the Humber Strategic Health Authority as the fees are paid by the Strategic Health Authority. Please discuss any proposed study with your line manager as they maintain an interest in your educational and professional development.
