Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Practice - PGD-ADV-PR09

What the programme is about:
The Post graduate Diploma is a part time programme for qualified health or social care practitioners working in an area where they are able to undertake advanced practice skills. The educational philosophy underpinning this programme is that of work based learning.

The programme has been designed primarily to enable students to meet the advanced practice core competences of the Yorkshire and Humber Strategic Health Authority (Y&H SHA). These competences are:
- providing effective healthcare
- improving the quality and health outcomes
- evaluation and research
- leading and developing practice
- developing self and others
- working across professional and organisational boundaries
- innovation and changing practice.

Why study this programme:
If you are already working as an advanced practitioner but do not have any formal postgraduate qualifications in this area, then this programme will allow you to develop your skills further and also provide you with the knowledge that underpins much of what you do. If you are not yet working in an advanced practice but you and your workplace are keen for you to develop into this kind of role, then this programme will help you to gain some of the practical and intellectual skills necessary for your new role. If you already have a Masters Degree, then this programme will enable you to develop the clinical competences necessary for an advanced practice role.

If you have already obtained a post graduate certificate from the School of Healthcare you may be eligible for direct entry to this programme with advanced standing. If you have obtained masters level credits from Leeds or another university you may be able to import them into the programme with advanced standing.
