The School of Healthcare also offers a wide variety of postgraduate taught programmes to enhance opportunities for practitioners in the healthcare profession. Taught programmes on offer range from postgraduate certificates and diplomas through to a Master's degree and a Professional Doctorate.
Courses are available on a full and part-time basis, dependent on the chosen professional pathway. Postgraduate research degrees are also available.

Our new masters 
We have a new suite of Masters programmes for modern healthcare professionals looking to transform their career and a range of programmes open to graduates from every field wishing to enter the healthcare professions.
The MSc in Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care, is aimed at UK and international managers in all the social professions and charities, and uses the School's expertise and world leading research strengths to develop the skills to resolve the key leadership and management challenges facing the sector.
The Msc in Innovative Healthcare is attractive to environmental health scientists, paramedics, as well as healthcare professionals seeking to promote radical and revolutionary changes in responding to national and international health and social care challenges.
The MSc Diagnostic Imaging has been created by merging the established Breast Imaging and Medical Ultrasound programmes to increase opportunities for inter-professional learning and to allow us to introduce radiography into our postgraduate teaching and learning portfolio.

Professionals can choose from the following areas which are also available at diploma and certificate level. Some courses, such as Breast Imaging, Medical Ultrasound are offered in long and short form and Innovative Healthcare is offered with a part-time option.

Our Research themes
A number of broad research themes exist and more is being done to align such themes to our expanding multi-professional postgraduate provision. As part of a Masters programme for example, students will be able to engage with existing research projects therefore ensuring that the supervision of student dissertations will be supported by experts within that field. Dissertations
The School of Healthcare ensures that students undertaking a Masters programme complete a dissertation which requires engagement with one of the following options: an empirical research study, a systematic review of the literature or a practice development project. Such projects are informed by contemporary issues relating to health care, social care or social work and have a demonstrable benefit for service users and / or carers.
the structure and content of a Masters dissertation
The School of Healthcare ensures that students undertaking a Masters programme complete a dissertation which requires engagement with one of the following options:
- an empirical research study
- a systematic review of the literature or
- a practice development project.
Such projects are informed by contemporary issues relating to health care, social care or social work and have a demonstrable benefit for service users and / or carers. Students are provided with a Masters Dissertation Catalogue which offers M level research opportunities supervised by current researchers and a list of methodological expertise offered by the School.
Life long learning
The School is strongly committed to the goal of 'life-long learning' for all our students and has a healthy number of full and part-time PhD students. Postgraduate study is a growth area and the School is interested in supporting students engaging in further research based activities.
