What is BSc (Hons) Healthcare Sciences (Audiology)?

This is a new 3 year degree which is part of the  Modernising Scientific Careers programme. Audiology is the science of hearing and balance and their associated disorders.  It is a varied and expanding discipline involving aspects of biological sciences, engineering, psychology, physics and electronics, speech and language development and social science. An Audiologist's role is both challenging and varied. Audiologists need to be able to communicate with people of all ages. They need to be able to think logically and adopt a scientific approach combined with caring and patient focused attitude to their work. Subject to approval.

Studying Audiology at Leeds will develop your scientific, practical, communication and research skills, all of which are necessary to work as a health professional in this exciting and dynamic discipline. Once qualified, most audiologists work in a hospital, assessing and treating patients, and may reach consultant level. Some audiologists work in a university, where their job is primarily concerned with teaching and research.
