Why study Healthcare Sciences (audiology)
Job prospects
Graduate employment for this course is good. On graduation, students are qualified to work at a Band 5 level (£21-27k) within an NHS audiology department and more than 90 % of our students are employed by an audiology department within 1 year of graduation. Alternative routes taken by some of our graduates include entering the private dispenser sector, teacher training and further study, including MSc and PhD study.
International opportunities
As an audiology student, or qualified audiologist, there may be opportunities for you to use your skills abroad working with charities and other relevant organisations. For example, one of our current students, Ned Carter, recently travelled to Cambodia with All Ears Cambodia, to assess and treat individuals with little or no access to basic healthcare. A full account of Ned’s experience was recently published in the professional magazine for the British Society of Audiology.
Nationally respected Academic
The audiology lecturing staff are all qualified audiologists with expertise in different fields of audiology and higher education teaching and/or research. The lecturers are all active members of the British Academy of Audiology and the British Society of Audiology, sitting on various professional committees and/or regularly attending and presenting at the national audiology conferences.
